Relaxation

Goals

A day at school or at the center can be very long for children, emotionally as well as physically. At the end of such a day, it is important to relax, that can be experienced in several ways. Relaxing lowers the stress. Homeless children often don't have the chance to relax at home or at the streets. It is good for the center as a safe place to offer relaxation games.

Structure

To explain the exercise, you place the children in a circle. After that, they can choose what to do but it has to be in their own classroom. You can also choose to do it outside, that's up to you.

Explanation

This exercise needs to by done at the very end of everyday, again per class or grade. If you repeat this everyday, the children will end each day at the center positive.

Call the children together and put on a song. At this song, each child can choose what to do on this song. Some children will probably danse, others will sing or talk, maybe some won't do anything or will just rest a little. They can enjoy the music their own way.
